چکیده

In this paper, we present a procedure to approximate the cover map generated from a remotely sensed image. The procedure can detect the nodes and branches from a segmented description of an image resembling a network. In the first of a two part algorithm, the nodes and branches of the mesh are detected. Once this has been completed, all those branches encapsulating a segment are used to generate the cover map. Dominantpoint detection algorithms have been used to detect the breakpoints on the individual branches. This allows the entire scene to be represented by a set of polygons.

Spatiotemporal analysis of remotely sensed Landsat time series data for monitoring 32 years of urbanization

The world is witnessing a dramatic shift of settlement pattern from rural to urban population, particularly in developing countries. The rapid Addis Ababa urbanization reflects this global phenomenon and the subsequent socio-economic and environmental impacts, are causing massive public uproar and political instability. The objective of this study was to use remotely sensed Landsat data to iden...

Supervised and unsupervised landuse map generation from remotely sensed images using ant based systems

The landuse or land-cover map depicts the physical coverage of the Earth’s terrestrial surface according to its use. Landuse map generation from remotely sensed images is one of the challenging tasks of remote sensing technology. In this article, motivated from group forming behavior of real ants, we have proposed two novel ant based (one supervised and one unsupervised) algorithms to automatic...

A model-based approach for mapping rangelands covers using Landsat TM image data

Empirical models are important tools for relating field-measured biophysical variables to remotely sensed data. Regression analysis has been a popular empirical method of linking these two types of data to estimate variables such as biomass, percent vegetation canopy cover, and bare soil. This study was conducted in a semi-arid rangeland ecosystem of Qazvin province, Iran. This paper presents t...

Analyzing Cloud-contaminated Remotely-sensed Images to Detect and Explain Deforestation in Two Mindanao Provinces

This paper presents an approach in extracting multi-temporal land-cover information (years 1976-2001) from cloud-contaminated remotely-sensed images acquired by the Landsat Multi-Spectral Scanner (MSS) and Enhanced Thematic Mapper plus (ETM+) sensors in order to detect and analyze deforestation and other types of land-cover change (LCC) in two forest resource-rich provinces of Agusan del Norte ...

Application of a Gis as a Modeling Tool for Remote Sensing Image Analysis of Agricultural Fields

In the context of the analysis of remotely sensed data the question arises of how to analyse large volumes of data. In the specific case of agricultural fields in flat areas these fields can often be modelled in terms of geometric primitives such as triangles and rectangles. In this case the options are classical i.e. bottom-up, starting at the pixel level and resulting in a segmented, labelled...
